13879247_654041504750931_2212351779952317586_nThe weather bureau has alerted the people in Chin State and the northern part of  Rakhine State to possible flash floods and landslides due to a depression formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The formation, currently located near a coastal section near India and Bangladesh, is not likely to move towards Myanmar. But the weather formation is still coded at the orange level because Chin State and the northern part of Rakhine State are in the circle of the depression.
“Heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Chin State and northern Rakhine State due to the depression,” the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said.
In its warning, the weather bureau alerted the people in hilly areas in the two regions to strong wind, flash floods and possible landslides. Residents living near rivers in northern Rakhine State were also also alrted to possible flash flooding.
The warning also cautioned fishermen against venturing into sea as the condition would be rough with squalls and strong wind up to 40 miles per hour along the Rakhine coast.—GNLM
