Vocational course to improve livelihood of locals

A TRAINING course on the making elephant figurines for souvenir markets began in Indaing village, Kyaukse Township on Thursday with the aim of improving the livelihoods of local people.
“We receive offers from the businessmen of other townships for the manufacturing of souvenirs,” Head of Township Rural Development Department U Soe Myint said.
Production cost is K300 per souvenir. Local people receive K4,000 per 10 souvenirs for their work.  Altogether 32 trainees from six villages are attending the three-day course.
The Township Rural Development Department is running the vocational course on figurine making to locals from villages in the western part of Kyaukse Township.
