The violent armed attackers torched about 80 homes in a village, Maungtaw Township yesterday before fleeing, after the government troops and the police had hunted them.
Acting on a tip-off that about 10 violent attackers had entered Warpaik village, the government troops and the border guard police conducted their clearance operations in the village at about 4:50 pm yesterday because the attackers set the houses on fire and fled to Zinpaingnyar village.
The fires were brought under control by the troops at about 6 pm and destroyed approximately 80 houses.
Officials said that the violent attackers intentionally burn down the houses in order to cause misunderstanding and tension between the government forces and the people and get aid from the international communities.— Myawady
