Nay Pyi Taw, 6 Aug — Vice President U Nyan Tun received an international delegation of disaster management specialists Thursday at the emergency operation centre of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
In his role as Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, the vice president met with Senior Emergency Preparedness and Response Officer Mr Janggam Adhityaawrama of the ASEAN Coordination Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management, Information and Communication Technology Officer Mr Adi Bishry, Logistics Officer Mr Yoran Lukas, and United States Forest Service EOC Advisor Mr Don Price.
The vice president heard reports by the guests on collection of data on flooding and landslides across the nation.
He later accepted K150 million from the Ministry of Mines and Myanmar Gems Entrepreneurs Association.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Daw Myat Myat Ohn Khin and the deputy minister spoke about counting casualties in flood-affected areas, relief supply requirement and assistance from international organizations. MNA
