Vice President U Henry Van Thio provides relief supplies to flood victims in Magway, Bago Regions

VICE President U Henry Van Thio presented cash and other supplies to flood victims in Magway and Bago Regions yesterday.
On his arrival at a relief camp in Aunglan Township of Magway Region, the Vice President handed over K6.1 million to flood victims and spoke words of encouragement.
Next the Vice President and party went to Pyay where he heard reports on flood damage in Bago Region and relief and rehabilitation work presented by Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein and gave instructions on the distribution of paddy strains for inundated farmlands.
At Shwe Palin Hmaw relief camp, the Vice President presented cash and supplies including 240 bags of rice and 280 vises (a viss is approximately 1.6 kilograms) of edible oil to flood victims in Pyay.
Then, he provided relief supplies including rice and edible oil to flood victims at a relief camp in Htonbo Township and visited inundated wards in Padaung Township where he met with more flood victims. A relief camp in Shwedaung Township also received cash and supplies.
Speaking to flood victims in affected townships, the Vice President stressed the need for a strong spirit to overcome the disaster, calling on flood victims to do their bit in the government’s rehabilitation work.
He also expressed special thanks to everyone for offering help in relief efforts and pledged the government’s commitment to providing assistance to post-disaster recovery.—Myanmar News Agency
