Vice President U Henry Van Thio meets with Netherlands Ministers

Vice President U Henry Van Thio, who is on a working visit to the Netherlands, met separately with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Netherlands in The Hague on 20 April.
The Vice President discussed at length on promoting relations between the two countries at the meetings with Netherlands’ Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Bert Koenders and the Minister of
Infrastructure and the Environment Mr. Melanie Schultz van Haegen.
Present at the meetings were Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung, Myanmar Ambassador to the Netherlands U Paw Lwin Sein and officials from Myanmar Embassy in Brussels.
Yesterday morning, the Vice President and entourage travelled to Utrecht, Hatigerstein and observed the construction of dams, dikes and floodgates while officials concerned explained management about water resource and construction of the dam.
Afterwards they went to observe the Princess Beatrixsluis Lock, the name of two floodgates built in 1983, and a third sluicegates which began construction in September 2016 and is slated to be completed by June 2019.
Roughly 50,000 watercrafts pass through the Princess Beatrixsluis Locks every year.—Myanmar News Agency
