Nanning, China — Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham left for China on Thursday, where he will attend the 12th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, which will take place in Nanning.
The theme for this year’s expo, which runs from 18 to 21 September, is “Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century.”
The vice president met with China’s Vice Premier Mr Zhang Gaoli to exchange views on the promotion of trade, diplomatic relations and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Discussions took place at Liyuan Government Guest House and also focused on the establishment of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor (BCIM-EC), which would be a key part of boosting socioeconomic development in the region. Other topics included joint efforts for the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The transport links are geared towards furthering mutual trade and commerce interests, increasing agricultural produce exports to China and developing infrastructure.—MNA
