VICE President Dr Sai Mauk Kham attended the first meeting of the Central Committee for Organising the 68th Anniversary of Independence Day at the meeting hall of the Union Government on Friday. Also present were members of the central committee, union ministers, deputy ministers and senior military officers.
At the meeting the vice president said that the ceremony to mark Independence Day is held every year in two parts – the state flag raising ceremony, where the message sent by the president is read out and which is held in the morning and the Independence Day dinner which is held in the evening.
The vice president urged officials of subcommittees to make sue the Independence Day ceremony went smoothly by reviewing the ceremonies of previous years.
The secretary of the central committee explained the agenda of the ceremony and the formation of seven subcommittees before chairmen of the subcommittees reported to the central committee the arrangements for the ceremony. The meeting ended with concluding remarks by the vice president.
