Nay Pyi Taw, 4 Aug — Vice President U Nyan Tun on Tuesday said subcommittees are coordinating rescue, rehabilitation and reconstruction operations in flood-affected areas.
Speaking at the National Disaster Management Committee at his office, he stressed the need to assess losses in these areas to calculate requirement for cash and materials, urging region and state natural disaster management committees to coordinate their responses.
In the morning, the Vice President received Malaysia-based Petronas Company President and CEO Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin and party at the Credentials Hall of the Presidential Palace to hold talks on cooperation in the oil and natural gas sector.
They also discussed investment in the energy sector and future development plans.
After the meeting, the Petronas chief donated US $150,000 for flood victims in Myanmar to Vice President U Nyan Tun.
Also present at the meeting were deputy ministers U Thant Kyaw and U Aung Htoo.—MNA
