UPDJC Meeting Discuss on Approved Agenda

The Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee continued its second-day meeting in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday with discussions on approved agendas for the Union Peace Conference–21st Century Panglong, formation of a joint committee for holding the UPC and matters related to the number of participants to the conference, opening ceremony and dinner.
Daw Saw Mya Yazar Lin of the Arakan Liberation Party expressed her view on the upcoming Union Peace Conference that the conference scheduled to be held on 31 August will pave the way for a sound situation to realize the people’s desires and shape the future of the country.
Likewise, Dr Salai Lian Hmung Sakhong of Chin National Front said that the UPDJC reached an agreement on holding a national-level political dialogue covering regional and ethnic matters shortly after the planned Union Peace Conference.
U Thu Wai, the vice-chairman representing the political parties’ group, expressed a hope that NCA non-signatory groups would take part in the conference and sign the NCA after the conference that will help participants prepare for next conferences.
“Political dialogue framework has not been discussed yet and a framework meeting is set to be held after the conference,” he said, adding that the UPDJC meeting focused on inclusion of all in the planned UPC.titled-1
