Union Information Minister meets literature associations, discusses development

UNION Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint held talks with representatives from literature associations on the development of Myanmar literary works along with freedom of expression and publication and the holding of literary seminars yesterday.
The Union minister and those from the Myanmar Writers Association, Myanmar Literature Lovers Association, Myanmar Writers Union and Myanmar Poets Union attended a meeting at the office of the Printing and Publishing Department in Yangon.
The Union minister also met with the chairman and members of the Myanmar Libraries Foundation for library development brainstorming in the afternoon.
While meeting with representatives from the Myanmar Printers and Publishers Association and the Myanmar Publishers and Booksellers Association, the Union minister discussed the establishment of Print City and Book City, setting book reviews column in the State-run newspapers and conducting printing courses.
In the evening, the Union minister held talks with representatives from the Myanmar Music Association (Central) on measures to be taken against the piracy of music albums, copy right infringement and the amendment of laws that are considered in need of change or scrapping altogether.—Myanmar News Agency
