UNESCO provides solar lamps for schools in Bagan

UNDER  the “ Education through schools for long-term development” project, UNESCO  presented Eneloop solar lamps  to the schools of Bagan on Tuesday.
Deputy Minister  for Education Dr Zaw Min Aung   made an address on the occasion held  at the Novotel Hotel in Yangon. Senior Official Mr Sardar Umar Alam of Yangon’s UNESCO office explained the project. Resident Representative Mr Hisakazu Maeda of Panasonic Asia Pacific and an official of the Banasonic Corporation elaborated on the installation of the Eneloop Solar  lamps in Pagan  area of  Mandalay Region.
The solar lamps were handed over to the deputy minister by the UNESCO and Panasonic officials.The officials answered questions from journalists.
The “Education through schools for long-term development” project is being implemented in collaboration with the  Ministry of Education, UNESCO and the Panasonic Corporation.
Under the project, 500 Eneloop Solar lamps are to be installed at  40 schools in Bagan.—Ministry of Education
