UN special rapporteur holds talks with officials in Yangon

Ms. Yanghee Lee, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, visited Correctional Department (Insein) and Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) and Myanmar Media Council and National Reconciliation and Peace Center offices in Yangon yesterday.
On her tour of the Correctional Department, Yanghee Lee held talks with Deputy Director U Myo Oo of the department.
On her arrival at the MNHRC, Chairman U Win Mra and officials explained the functions of the commission and human rights promotion and protection activities to the UN’s special rapporteur.
Yanghee Lee met with Myanmar Media Council Chairman U Khin Maung Lay (a) Po Thauk Kyar and party at the council’s office and visited the National Reconciliation and Peace Center where she held talks with Dr Tin Myo Win, chairman of preparatory committee for Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong, and U Hla Maung Shwe and Dr Min Zaw Oo of the center. — Myanmar News Agency
