CHAIRMAN of the Union Election Commission U Tin Aye pledged that measures taken by the commission for advance voting in the upcoming election will be transparent.
“Political parties should not be in any doubt about advance voting if they read the rules and regulations of the Election Law and put themselves under the law’s protection,” said U Tin Aye at meeting with authorities and political parties in Kalay, Sagaing Region, on Monday.
He also pledged that no eligible voter would lose the right to vote due to errors in voting lists, adding that citizens will be able to vote as long as they have the recommendation of a local election commission.
U Tin Aye called on politicians to adhere to the code of conduct throughout the election period.
The UEC also clarified certain electoral processes, including campaign rules.
