UEC extends candidate nomination period due to flood emergency

Nay Pyi Taw, 3 Aug — The Union Election Commission has extended the period for nomination, scrutiny and withdrawal of Hluttaw candidates in the 8 November general election because of the flood and landslide disaster affecting the country, the UEC said Monday.
Candidates will now be allowed to submit their nominations until 14 August and to withdraw their nomination until 17 August. Candidate nomination forms will be scrutinized from 18 to 27 August, the announcement said.
Candidates who have difficulty for nomination are also invited to seek help from the UEC, according to the announcement.—GNLM
