UNION Election Commission chairman U Tin Aye travelled to Haka from Kalay yesterday to encourage election officials in Chin State to invest every effort into ensuring elections are free and fair.
Chin State suffered the most damage during recent floods and landslides, and many public buildings in the state were destroyed.
The chairman met with members of election sub-commissions, political party officials, candidates, members of CSOs and local people at the meeting hall of the Chin State Government.
The chairman called for cooperation between all of the participants to ensure a free and fair election and responded to questions raised by political parties.
Before returning to Kalay, the chairman inspected a local monastery that was damaged by the recent natural disasters.—Myanmar News Agency
