The United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Mr Hugo Swire visited the office of the Union Election Commission here on Wednesday.
While meeting with UEC Chairman U Tin Aye, Mr Swire raised questions about errors in voter lists, preparations for the election and security measures at polling stations.
U Tin Aye explained voter education programmes were being launched through media, that election monitoring groups would be allowed at voting stations, and military members would cast votes at their bases, except advanced voters.  The chairman said the Ministry of Home Affairs was preparing security measures for the election.
