Two ministries renamed, K500 billion agricultural loan approved

ATHE Pyidaungsu Hluttaw session entered its 24th day, approving the renaming of the Ministry of Health as the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs as the Ministry of Ethnic Nationalities Affairs, and a K500 billion loan from the Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) to the government yesterday.
Following discussions on renaming of the two ministries, Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint, on behalf of Union Minister for Health Dr Myint Htway and Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Nai Thet Lwin commented on the parliamentary discussions.
In his comment, Union Minister Dr Pe Myint said he will inform the Health Ministry of the representative’s discussion, which called for appointment of a deputy minister for the ministry.
Next, discussions on a K500 billion loan to the government from the Central Bank of Myanmar to provide agricultural loans to farmers for 2016-2017 fiscal year followed.
During the discussions, Pyidaungsu Hluttaw representatives expressed support for the loan, and Union Ministers for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Thu and Union Minister for Finance U Kyaw Win elaborated on how the loan would be used.
A plan to borrow an agricultural loan of K500 billion from the CBM to the government for farmers was approved in the parliament without objection.—Myanmar News Agency
