TWO Kachin Independence Army (KIA) members were arrested together with 50 metal boxes of gunpowder after police officers and members of the Myoma militia checked a suspicious vehicle near Mawtoung Village in Muse, Shan State, on 4 June.
The 50 boxes of gunpowder were found under fruit containers in a car driven by Ko Ko Tun.
According to investigators, the two KIA members were tasked with transporting the gunpowder boxes from the territory of the United Wa State Army to Aung Tun from the KIA.
Arrangements are being made to charge the KIA members in accordance with the law after handing over the seized gunpowder boxes and the vehicle to the Muse Myoma Police Station.—Myawady
