Vendors of traditional clay toys have come to Phayathonsu Pagoda in Mandalay to sell their wares at a local festival.  The vendors are from Shwebo, Myintmu and Myaung townships in neighbouring Sagaing Region.
The colourful clay toys are competing in the market with plastic toys also being sold at the festival.
The pagoda festival will formally begin on 23 October, but vendors are also able to make sales during the pre-festival period. A clay toy festival in Mandalay’s Aungmyaethasan Township was held on 22 August.—Thiha Ko Ko
