Crowds came out to watch traditional boat races at Meikhtila’s Phaungtaw Oo Pagoda festival on 24 September. The festival has not been held for the past two years, but it is the 132nd time it has been held.
Hundreds of residents from Meikhtila Township’s 379 villages and 14 wards attended the festival, where more than 20 traditional boat racing teams will compete from 9am to 5pm every day during the five-day festival.
There was also a donation ceremony for 138 monks at the pagoda on 28 September.
