Traders’ suggestions to be incorporated into economic policies

THE Ministry of Commerce will seek the suggestions of traders in drafting new economic policies.
At a meeting with traders from around the country in Yangon yesterday, Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint said the new government will create fair competition for traders, vowing to eradicate monopolies.
“There is competition in the business world, but we will take measures to create a business world with responsibility and accountability, without encouraging monopoly,” Dr Than Myint.
During the meeting, traders shared their challenges and requirements for smooth commodity flow with the Union minister.
When traders recommended the abolition of mobile teams in regions and states, the Union minister promised to work together with the related ministries to do so.
The Ministry of Commerce is also planning to strengthen economic institutions to improve capacity and infrastructure. The government is planning to triple its export volume during its tenure and considers the export sector critical to the country’s economic growth.—Ko Moe
