Thousands of pink colored drugs seized in Maungtaw

On 20 April, security forces from Kyainchaung police station positioned themselves on Reedha village road after receiving news of a drug smuggling activity. Around 4pm a motorbike ridden by Mamet Idris and Htun Naing departing from Kyainchaung to Aungsitpyin were stopped for searching and found to be carrying ten packets of nearly 1,700 pink WY psychotropic drugs worth Ks 3.4 million.
Upon interrogation it was discovered that the drugs were carried from the house of Yunnus near Kyetyopyin village’s market and meant for delivery near the Zeepinchaung Village crossroad on the Kyainchaung-Taunngpyo road and the suspects were paid Ks 40,000 as delivery fees. It is reported that the suspect Yunnus had already fled his home when officials arrived there. Kyainchuang police  station have filed a lawsuit against the two suspects.—Myanmar News Agency
