Telenor phone number sold for K112 million

ACCORDING to a statement from telecommunications company Telenor, the highest price one of their special auctioned phone numbers was bought for was with a bid of K112 million.
The phone number auction was held by Telenor Myanmar at the Chatrium hotel on February 25, during which the number combination 09777777777 was snapped up with a hefty bid of K112 million.
The telecommunications company has made it known that a total of K483.5 million was raised from the auctioning off of 55 different numbers in their first special phone number auction.
Of the total sum of money made during the auction, K418.3 million will be donated to the Myanmar mobile bus education project, myME, for their digital education program, it is known. “All of the profit made from the auction event is being donated to the my ME program to financial support the education of between 5,000-10,000 children in 2016.” said Petter Furberg, CEO of Telenor Myanmar. The different aspects of the aforementioned auction event were overseen by MN Associates and Deloitte Touche Myanmar Vigour Advisory Ltd.
This was the first, but by no means the last, auction for Telenor, with similar auction events to be held in other States and Regions across the country, it is known.
