TATMADAW columns occupied a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) camp about three miles southeast of Mohnyin on Thursday morning.
The KIA was allegedly expanding its troops and had built a military base near Mohnyin during the period in which the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement was signed. It was also allegedly harassing locals and army columns, according to government sources.
In response, the army combed the area of the KIA, launching an attack on the KIA camp starting from 15 November. Air and artillery fire was used.
Tatmadaw columns occupied the KIA camp, seizing over 90 landmines, one motorcycle, one generator, one dynamo, three pump motors, one chain-saw, one barrel of gasoline, one barrel of diesel and documents.
