A three-in-one trade expo showcasing auto parts, machine tools and electronic components kicked off Wednesday in Yangon.
Auto Expo Myanmar, the Myanmar International Machine Tool & Automation Exhibition, and Power Myanmar 2015 will run until 25 July at Myanmar Event Park in Yangon.
The four-day expo is jointly organized by the Taipei World Trade Centre, Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co and Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association, with the organizers expecting about 10,000 combined visitors. The shows include more than 200 booths featuring products such as engine parts, fuel tanks, electric transformers, portable power generators and healthcare products exhibited by over 130 companies from 12 countries.
Mr Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, chairman of Taipei World Trade Centre, said the expo focuses on Myanmar’s role in the ASEAN Economic Community, set to launch at the end of the year and forecast to become the world’s fourth-largest economic community by 2050.  After TWTC opened its Yangon branch in 2013, Myanmar-Taiwan trade grew 16.7 percent the following year to US $328 million, Mr Liang said, adding he believed the current exhibitions, along with the opening of Myanmar’s Taipei trade office last month, would further enhance the bilateral relationship.—GNLM
