A STATUE of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, will be sold at an auction during the Miss World 2016 contest to be held next month in the U.S., according to a local organizer.
Myat Thiri Linn (aka Bella) was crowned Miss Myanmar World 2016 in June. She also won Best Personality and the People’s Choice Award. She will represent her country at the 66th edition of Miss World, which is planned to take place in Washington DC, the capital of the United States, on 18 December.
Myat Thiri Linn said she has decided to bring a sculpture of the Nobel peace prize winner for auction, a special programme of the competition, which allows all participants to display the objects of value to them, including ancient culture and things related to their homeland.
Miss Myanmar 2016 plans to leave for the U.S. on 26 November. She will compete with more than 100 delegates from around the world to win the crown, hoping to be the ambassador of “Beauty with a Purpose”.
Mireia Lalaguna Rayo from Spain was named the winner of the Miss World 2015 competition in China. Venezuela is the most successful country at the Miss World pageant with six crowns, followed by India and United Kingdom, with five crowns each.
