State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s presence at ASEAN Summits in Laos

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held bilateral talks with prime ministers from Viet Nam, Japan, New Zealand and India on the sidelines of the 28th and 29thASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos, in addition to multiple meetings and numerous ceremonial appearances.
On 6 September, the State Counsellor took part in the opening of the28th and 29th ASEAN Summits, the 28th ASEAN Summit Retreat, the signing ceremony of ASEAN Declaration on Disaster Response, Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Work Plan III and the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025, ASEAN Leaders’ Interface meetings with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, ASEAN Youth and ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
The next day, the State Counsellor was present together with ASEAN heads of state/government at the29th ASEAN Summit Retreat, 19th ASEAN-China Summit to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, the 19th ASEAN-Japan Summit, the 18th ASEAN-ROK Summit, the 19th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the 2nd ASEAN-Australia Summit, the 8th  ASEAN-United Nations Summit and the 8th Mekong-Japan Summit.
The State Counsellor also attended the 14th ASEAN-India Summit, the 4th ASEAN-United States Summit and the 11th East Asia Summit yesterday.
Moreover, the State Counsellor held bilateral talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe, New Zealand Prime Minister Mr. John Key and Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi separately on the sidelines of the Summits.
During the ASEAN Summits and related summits, including the first ASEAN-Australia Summit where Myanmar acted as coordinator, the State Counsellor participated in the deliberation of issues relating to ASEAN’s dialogue relations and its future direction, regional and international issues and cooperation and external relations of ASEAN.—Myanmar News Agency
