State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to hold talks with UNFC’s Chairman on 17 July

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the United Nationalities Federation Council’s Delegation for Political Negotiation-DPN will hold talks on 17 July in Yangon for the first time.
“The meeting between the State Counsellor and the United Nationalities Federal Council led by U N’Ban La, Chairman of the United Nationalities Federal Council, is scheduled to take place on the evening of 17 July at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre,” said U Hla Maung Shwe, Secretary of the Preparatory Committee for holding the Union Peace Conference—21st Century Panglong.
The upcoming meeting comes after a request from UNFC delegation at the 3 June meeting with the preparatory sub-committtee-2.
During the meeting with the Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong preparatory committee, United Nationalities Federal Council’s Delegation for Political Negotiation-DPN expressed its willingness to work out ways for non-signatory ethnic-armed organisations to join the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement and participate in the Union Peace Conference and what the objectives and nature of the conference are.—Ye Khaung Nyunt
