State Counsellor attends multiple events, ceremonies at ASEAN Summits

In a full day of activity, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended the opening of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits, which included ceremonies, meetings, plenary sessions and unveilings at the National Convention Center in Vientiane, Laos yesterday.
Before the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos, which is the current ASEAN Alternate Chair, and his wife welcomed the ASEAN heads of state at the National Convention Center.
Also present at the opening ceremony were ministers and high-ranking officials from ASEAN countries, the secretary-general of ASEAN, delegates and media.
The Laotian Prime Minister extended greetings followed by an opening address by Laotian President Mr. Bounnhang Vorachit.
The State Counsellor, together with the ASEAN heads of state/government, then unveiled the Launch of the Visit [email protected] Campaign Logo and posed for documentary photos.
In the afternoon, the plenary session of the 28th ASEAN Summit followed.
Next, the State Counsellor attended the launching ceremony of Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025, Initiative for ASEAN Integration Work Plan III and the signing ceremony of ASEAN Declaration on One ASEAN, One Response: ASEAN Responding to Disasters as One in the Region and Outside the Region, and signed the declaration together with ASEAN leaders.
In the evening, the State Counsellor took part in the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface meetings with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, ASEAN Youth and ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
Next, the State Counsellor attended a dinner hosted by the Laotian Prime Minister and wife in honour of ASEAN heads of state/government at Don Chan Palace Hotel.—Myanmar News Agency
