State Counsellor arrives in Goa

At the invitation of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi of India, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi left Yangon for Goa, India, to attend BIMSTEC Retreat and BRICS and BIMSTEC Leaders’ Outreach Summit. She arrived at the navy base in Goa at 11.50 am local time.
The State Counsellor and party were welcomed by Deputy Minister HE Mr Vijay Kumasr Singh of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the Myanmar ambassador to India and officials.
The delegation led by the State Counsellor proceeded to Hotel Leela, where accommodations for the delegation were arranged.
Later, the State Counsellor attended a luncheon held in honour of BIMSTEC leaders by the Goa State Chief Minister.
State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held talks with Sri Lankan President Mr Maithritala Sirisena in Goa, India, Yesterday.
At the meeting, the State Counsellor discussed matters related to bilateral cooperation.— Myanmar News Agency
