Speaker calls for coordinated efforts in government’s commitment to reconciliation, peace and development

PYITHU Hluttaw Speaker U Win Myint called for coordinated efforts in the government’s commitment to achieving national reconciliation, internal peace and national development in a meeting with regional representatives in Bago Region yesterday.
At the meeting, the speaker shared his experiences in parliament, stressing the importance of capacity enhancement, national reconciliation, avoidance of corruption and cooperation between parliament and the executive branch.
“As we are people’s representatives, we are accountable to them,” he said, urging the representatives to learn the desires and needs of the voters and reflect their feelings in parliament.
U Win Myint also warned of the need to take care in their line of duty and to understand the difference between interference and intervention.The main responsibility of the representatives is to treat the people as parents by helping solve their difficulties, the speaker said, calling for collective efforts to create a society free from corruption and make the country stand tall in the international community. —Myanmar News Agency
