Singaporean PM unveils commemorative plaque of Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute

SINGAPOREAN Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong together with Singaporean Education Minister Mr. Ong Ye Kung and Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi unveiled a commemorative plaque at the Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute in Yangon yesterday.
Next, the group took a tour of the building and the two Education ministers planted a mahogany tree to mark the opening of the Institute.
The Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute was opened on 16 October, 2015, offering vocational education and training courses aimed at providing teachers and Myanmar youth vocational skills and knowledge to better meet the country’s requirements.
The Singaporean PM, his wife and party visited the old Secretariat on Yangon’s Theinbyu Road where Dr Thant Myint-U, chairman of Yangon Heritage Trust, conducted them on a tour which included inspections of the stone inscription commemorating fallen martyrs, the old Parliament Chamber and the room where General Aung San and his colleagues were assassinated.
In the evening, the Singaporean PM and party were seen off at Yangon International Airport by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and his wife, regional ministers, the Singaporean Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Robert Chua and other officials.— Myanmar News Agency
