Singapore donates books to Myanmar’s National Library

The National Library Board of Singapore donated 300 books to the Myanmar National Library on Saturday, as a gesture of celebrating the lion city’s 50th anniversary of independence.
Singapore’s Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Robert Chua said that his country donated books to 39 other national libraries worldwide with the aim of promoting people-to-people relations among those countries.
“These books cover topics ranging from architecture to culture, history, economy and literature,” he added.
Singapore donated 50,000 books to the Myanmar National Library in April this year. According to Union Culture Minister U Aye Myint Kyu, a total of 12,000 books have so far been reallocated to 22 other libraries, with plans to send the rest to other libraries.
