SG Min Aung Hlaing receives ICRC President Peter Maurer

The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, received a delegation led by Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), yesterday at the Bayint Naung Guesthouse in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they exchanged views and discussed matters related to the ICRC conducting development and humanitarian operations in conflict areas of Kachin and Rakhine states. They also discussed Tatmadaw participating in the socio-economic development of the local populace and the reconstruction of infrastructures in Rakhine State, which are being jointly conducted by the ICRC and the government.
They also reviewed providing aid in conflict free regions of Myanmar, sending Myanmar police and Tatmadaw personnel for training in conflict resolution, and cooperation between Tatmadaw and the ICRC in medical and mine clearance works.
