Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing welcomed General Ponpipat Benyasri, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, with a honour guard at the Zeyar Thiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Following the welcoming ceremony, they held talks at the guest hall of the building.
At the meeting, they exchanged views on the role of the two armed forces for the peoples of the two countries, the important role of the armed forces of Thailand as a good neighbor of Myanmar in emergence of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement in 2015, cooperation of the two armed forces from the top to lower levels, exchange of cultural troupes and sports teams, promoting of exchange of friendship visits, cooperation in returning of Myanmar citizens from IDP camps in Thailand, providing security to Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand in accordance with the law and promoting the win-win cooperation and friendship between the two armed forces of Myanmar and Thailand.
After the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing conferred the hournary badge on General Ponpipat Benyasri.
General Ponpipat Benyasri becomes the first foreign commander-in-chief of armed forces who received the honourary title conferred by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services of Myanmar, according to the news released by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
