Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives Chinese ambassador to Myanmar

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds talks with Chinese Ambassador Mr Hong Liang in Nay Pyi Taw.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, received Mr Hong Liang, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, at Zeyar Thiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
In the meeting, the Senior-General recounted the history of Laukkai Area, during which armed groups commenced to launch military operations in the north-eastern region in 2015, 2016 and 2017, with the armed groups’ actions of launching military operations after refusing to accept the invitation of the Government of the Union and Tatmadaw for the political dialogue of the peace process. Also recounted were the many sacrifices and loss of life of the Tatmadaw, sufferings encountered by local people due to armed conflicts.
Matters relating to making the armed groups cease military operations, for the peace and stability between the two countries, were also discussed.
The ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar clarified situations harming the peace and stability of the border areas between the two countries due to the affairs in Myanmar-China border area and situations for the cooperation for the peace process in Myanmar. Actual events on the ground concerning the series of events in Laukkai and matters to be co-operated for the peace and stability of the border area were discussed.
