Nay Pyi Taw, 6 Aug —Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla inspected donations of flood relief supplies Thursday at Mingaladon Air Base.
The senior general and party, including Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Thura Thet Swe, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint and senior officers, later traveled by helicopter to Ingapu in Ayeyawady Region to deliver supplies to flood victims.
The Ayeyawady Region chief minister and the commander of Southwest Command reported to the senior general on flood mitigation measures. The senior general gave instructions on evacuation of people and cattle with Tatmadaw ships and transportation of food supplies from Yangon. The senior general afterwards met with flood victims at the town hall and presented flood supplies to victims.
In the afternoon, the senior general and party proceeded to Hinthada and inspected building embankments around the town to prevent flooding.
The senior general and party met with local people at Myanadi Hall and presented K50 million worth of relief supplies donated by the defence services.
Afterwards, the senior general and party proceeded to Zalun by car and inspected river embankments along the trip.
In Ayeyawady Region, about 170 relief camps have been set up for 34,257 victims.—Myawady
