Second meeting on 69th Anniversary Martyrs’ Day ceremony held

THE second meeting of the holding of the 69th Anniversary Arzani Day (Martyrs’ Day) took place at the President’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday with an address by Vice President U Myint Swe, patron of the organising central committee.
The Vice President reportedly spoke about the holding of a ceremony to observe Arzani Day with hopes to instill a nationalistic pride in order to remember forever the national heroes who laid down their lives in the country’s Independence struggle and instil a ‘national spirit’ in younger generations.
In his address, the Vice President said that the observance of martyrs’ day will be held with the full essence of politics and Myanmar Radio and Television will sound a siren at 10.37 am on Martyrs’ Day to observe the time of the assassination of the country’s national heroes.
Next, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, chairman of the organising central committee, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, vice-chairman of the committee, Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe, secretary of the working committee, and Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Soe, reported on preparations at the Martyrs Mausoleum, Bogyoke Museum in Yangon and Natmauk, agenda for Arzani Day observance ceremony and security matters.
After hearing reports on respective matters presented by officials concerned, the Vice President made concluding remarks on the reports.
