Second hand tractors and ploughshares to be sold for around K200,000

THE Agricultural Mechanisation Department under the ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Breeding and Irrigation has been selling second hand tractors and ploughshares to Myanmar farmers for between K200,000 and K490,000 beginning from Friday, it has been learned from an official of the ministry. Farmers have the option to either pay by instalment or make an outright purchase.
Farmers who wish to buy tractors must have a letter of recommendation certifying that they are buying the tractor for genuine farm work. With the correct paperwork farmers can come directly to the tractor stations and make a purchase.
“The ministry expects to sell around 65 tractors after the first 100 day-project. A total of 50 tractors have already been sold, “said U Aung Zaw, director of the mechanical branch.
Payment for tractors can be made in three instalment within two years. The down payment is between K90,000 to K120,000 monthly. Tractor training courses are being conducted free of charge. Ploughshares are also being sold for between K170,000 and K1 million. The Department of Agricultural Mechanisation has invited tenders from Thailand , India and European nations.
