Release of fingerlings into Inlay Lake to balance ecosystem

P01 72A ceremony to release Hamilton’s carp fingerlings into Inlay Lake was held at the bungalow of the lake, Nyaungshwe Township, on 29 August.
Shan State Chief Minister U Sao Aung Myat, ministers, departmental officials and residents released 200,000 fingerlings into the water.
“As grass and weed are occupying the larger area of the lake, the authorities arranged release of Hamilton’s carp into the lake to be able to balance ecosystem,” Head of Shan State Fisheries Department U Tin Tun Aung.
He added, “A plan is underway to release 100,000 more fingerlings of same fish species into the lake in September and October.”
