Comedians, actors coming together to make a difference in the lives of those affected
A POPULAR Anyeint troupe comprised of local celebrities will beginentertaining in three towns in Australia to raise funds for the rehabilitation of flood-affected regions, organizer U Arkar Kyaw said.
The charity concertwill be held inAustralia early next year by the Hnin Si Yin Gwin Modern Performance Troupe which plans to stage the event at Bowan Hall in Sydney on 13 February, at Springvale Town Hall in Melbourneon 20 February and at Casa D’ Abruzzo Club in Western Australia (WA)on 27 February.
“The comedians are likely to joke about current affairs and everyday lifeduring their performances. It’s a fun, light hearted vibe,” said Director U Myo Min.
The overseasevent will be directed by Mg Myo Min (Yin Twin Phyit), and the famous actorsMin Maw Kun, Nay Toe, Kyaw Kyaw Bo and Tun Tun who will perform comedy while actresses Phu Sone and May Kabyar will perform traditional dances. The troupe has been performing charity events every year since 2006.Theyestablished the Hnin Si Yin Gwin Social Support Foundation this year with the aim of helping people in need.
This is the second time thefoundation has performed charity events for disaster victims. The troupe could potentially collect more than K300 million (US$235,478) from its fundraising tour which will be spent directly on aid to victims of natural disaster in Myanmar.
Torrential monsoon rain during June and July this year caused floods and landslides across wide parts of the country leaving many people homeless and without basic services.
