Radiation Oncology Department launched at Zabuthiri Specialist Hospital

THE Department of Radiation Oncology was officially launched at Zabuthiri Specialist Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday
with the goal of providing state-of-the-art treatment to cancer patients.
Nay Pyi Taw Mayor Dr Myo Aung, who also serves as the chair of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, attended the launching ceremony to unveil the signboard of the department.
After the ceremony, Dr Myo Aung and officials toured the facilities installed at the department, including CT simulation room, a treatment planning room, linear acceleration room and brachythepy room to treat patients using radiation-based machines.
Patients with ovarian cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer may receive special treatment at the new Radiation
Oncology Department at a fair price, according to the department.
Equipped with two Linear Accelerators, the department can provide direct patient care to around 80 people per day.
