Pyithu Hluttaw session continues for eighth day

THE Pyithu Hluttaw session continued for its eighth day with parliamentarians discussing a proposal to take preventive measures against the possible adverse affects of floods on dykes in Ayeyawady Region yesterday.
In their discussions lawmakers expressed their support for the proposal and called for durability of the dykes to relieve concerns of the people living along the Ayeyawady and Ngawun Rivers in the region before the country’s third period of flooding and possible La Niña. A question and answer session followed with Union Minister for Construction U Win Khaing responding to questions about road upgrades and bridge construction.
Regarding Shinbwayan-Nann Yunn- Panhsaung road in Sagaing Region, the Union minister said that the road will be upgraded into an all-weather facility within three years, adding that K4.5million will be used for its upgrading works.
Next, the Union minister replied that works still remain to be completed upgrading 16 bridges on the main roads accessible to Rakhine State because of funds but Dalatchaung bridge on Ann-Sittwe road will be upgraded during the 2016-2017 FY and three new bridges are under construction on Minbya-Myebon road and Ponnagyun-Yathedaung road.
