Pyidaungsu, Pyithu Hluttaw Speakers meet Sri Lankan parliament speaker

SPEAKER of the Pyidaugsu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw Mahn Win Khaing Than held talks with Mr Karu Jayasuriya, Speaker of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, over friendship and legislation between the parliaments of the two countries.
Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than hosted a dinner in honour of the Sri Lanka parliamentary delegation at the Park Royal Hotel yesterday evening.
Mr Karu Jayasuriya, Speaker of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka also called on U Win Myint, Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw, yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, U Win Myint clarified measures being taken for power sharing, national reconciliation, amending, revoking and making laws at the Pyithu Hluttaw.
Speaker U Win Myint also expressed his hope that the two countries, which possess similar culture and live in the same religion, would find ways to promote bilateral cooperation and mutual trust.
Mr Karu Jayasuriya also spoke on the political reforms in Sri Lanka since 2015 and preparations for amending the country’s constitution.
