Nay Pyi Taw, 18 Aug — The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on Tuesday approved a bill to extend the emergency order in the Kokang self-administered zone.
The combined houses of parliament also dealt with four other bills, including those concerning the appointment of two union ministers, approvals for foreign loans, and signing of international agreements.
The speaker urged representatives to work through bills as quickly as possible before the elections.
The session also discussed bills for marriage of Myanmar Buddhist women, radio and television broadcasting and preservation of ancient buildings.
Deputy ministers U Tin Ngwe and U Aung Than Oo explained foreign loans to the session including U.S. $90 million for electrification in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and U.S. $300 million for expansion of the national grid.—MNA
