BEIJING — President U Thein Sein travelled to China on Wednesday to attend commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the World Anti-Facist War.
The president was seen off from Nay Pyi Taw by Vice Presidents Dr Sai Mauk Kham and U Nyan Tun, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and union ministers.
The president is accompanied by Union Ministers U Wunna Maung Lwin, U Hla Tun, U Khin Maung Soe, U Zeyar Aung and U Ye Htut, as well as Lt-Gen Yar Pyae of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
On arrival in Beijing, the president and his entourage were welcomed by former Chinese Ambassador Mr Pan Guang Xue, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Hong Liang and Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thit Linn Ohn.
Meetings were held with CITIC Co Ltd Chairman Mr Chang Zheng Min and China-Myanmar Friendship Association Chairman Mr Geng Zhiyuan at China World Hotel in Beijing.
In the evening, the president attended an informal dinner hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife.—MNA
