Nay Pyi Taw, 22 July— President U Thein Sein received Laotian Vice President Mr Bounnhang Vorachith at the Presidential Palace here on Wednesday.
They discussed a wide range of topics including promotion of bilateral relations, trade and tourism, security, and border affairs.
The meeting was also attended by Union Ministers Lt Gen Ko Ko, U Wunna Maung Lwin, U Zeya Aung, U Maung Myint, Dr Myint Aung, U Kyaw Lwin, U Ye Htut and senior government officials, as well as Laotian delegates.
Myanmar and Laos opened the Friendship Bridge connecting the two countries on 9 May this year to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Mr Bounnhang Vorachith previously visited Myanmar three times as premier, in August 2001 to pay a goodwill visit to Myanmar, in November 2003 to attend the First ACMECS Summit in Bagan and in December 2004 to attend the World Buddhist Summit. This is his first visit as a Vice President. MNA
