President U Thein Sein meets with Mongolian leaders

Ulaanbaatar, 29 June — President U Thein Sein met his Mongolian counterpart Mr Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj on Monday in Ulaanbaatar following a welcoming ceremony at the city’s Chinggis Square.
At the ceremony, the Guard of Honour saluted the two leaders before an inspection of the guard by President U Thein Sein.
The two presidents held exclusive talks at the State Palace, after which they held a meeting involving ministers from the two countries.
The two presidents later witnessed the signing of agreements between Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Htay Aung and his Mongolian counterpart Ms Dulamsaren Oyunkhorol, between Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Kan Chun and Ulan Bator Vice Mayor Mr N.Gantumur, and between President U Win Aung of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chambers of Commerce and Industry and his Mongolian counterpart Mr B.Lkhagvajav.
Later, the two presidents held a joint press conference and replied to queries raised by journalists.
U Thein Sein and party also visited Gandantegchinlen Monastery and paid homage to Sayadaw Choljamts before presenting offertories to the monks.
On Monday, the president also met with the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament, Mr Z.Enkhbold, and Prime Minister Mr Chimed Saikhanbileg separately at the State Palace.
At 4 p.m. local time, the two presidents visited the Mini Naadam festival in Chinggisyn Khuree.
The two presidents enjoyed cultural performance, wrestling matches, archery contests and riding competitions.
The Mini Naadam festival is a traditional ancient Mongolian festival recognized by UNESCO.
After the festival, the two presidents presented prizes to winners in the archery contests.
In the evening, the Mongolian president hosted a dinner in honour of President U Thein Sein at the Ikhtenger complex. MNA
