President U Thein Sein inspects post-flood rehabilitation progress in Sagaing Region

President U Thein Sein and union ministers and officials inspected the progress of road repairs and drain dredging along along Kalay-Kalewa Road in Kalay, Sagaing Region on 21 August. The region was one of the worst hit by the flash floods that began July.
The president met with local authorities and residents in Cikon village to discuss various post-flood rehabilitation projects in Kalay. Union and region governments have provided assistance for rebuilding villages and houses, restoring electricity access and helping the agriculture and livestock breeding sectors to get back on their feet.
The president welcomed the donation of relief supplies for flood victims by the Sagaing Region government.
The president also observed soldiers carrying out drills at Kalay station, before visiting Kalay University of Computer Studies, Kalay Technological University and Ayethaya village.
At Kabar Yankin monastery (south) in Chinsaing village, the president viewed free supply of purified drinking water to local residents at the water purifier by Trendy Myanmar Company Ltd.
The president cordially met with flood victims in Paukkhon and YayleU villages.
